LOCKED IN by Robert BallantineThe final workshop of the series featured a brand new play by Dundee-based playwright Robert Ballantine. Actors and a director from The Little Theatre participated in a rehearsed reading of LOCKED IN, a hospital based drama with a darkly humorous take on some modern ethical dilemmas. This was be followed by a discussion with the writer. This is Bob’s first new play since the successful stage production of his satirical comedy Standing Stanes by Edinburgh theatre company Siege Perilous, almost exactly a year ago. He commented: “After such a positive reaction to “Standing Stanes” last year, I was motivated to write “Locked In”, a play suitable for the stage or TV. The subject is a serious one, and while I've added a substantial dose of black humour, I am keen for the play to convey the very difficult decisions which sometimes need to be taken. The feedback from the audience at the reading has been very constuctive and positive.” Bob is hoping that the play can be given a full stage production soon.
