Robert Ballantine has professional writing credits for the theatre and television. The use of music is an important feature in most of his plays. He has also written film scripts, a novel and some poetry. 

 

Bob's satirical comedy STANDING STANES was very successfully produced in May 2012 by innovative professional theatre company Siege Perilous of Edinburgh. Directed by Andy Corelli, the play attracted four star reviews and very favourable audience reactions. Further details can be found on this site and on www.siegeperilous.co.uk .

 

Bob has recently written a new play LOCKED IN (see below and additional information page) and is currently developing new script ideas for the stage and screen.

 

 

In collaboration with Dundee Dramatic Society and Fife - based playwright Donald Gunn, Bob and his colleagues have recently run two series of public rehearsed readings at the Little Theatre, Dundee. Featuring the work of new and emerging writers, these workshops included audience discussions with the writers, and were throughly enjoyed by everyone involved. One of the plays showcased at the readings was given a full production at The Little Theatre in November 2013. Bob's new play LOCKED IN was also featured and he is hopeful that this too will be given a full stage performance in the near future.
